Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Joseph Davies a resident of Andover and beloved husband of Mary J. (Timony) Davies, died at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, New Hampshire, on Friday, January 16, 2015. He was 92 years old. Born in Andover, Massachusetts, on July 17, 1922, he was the beloved son of the late Thomas J. and Mabelle G. Davies. A career veteran, Mr. Davies was an Air Force Pilot for more than 20 years. He was the Base Commander at the Grenier Air Force Base in Manchester, New Hampshire, now know as the Manchester/Boston Regional Airport. He received his honorable discharge on October 1, 1970. In civilian life, Tom was the manager for the Lawrence Air Port for more than ten years and continued to enjoy flying. He was proud to be a licensed pilot until his passing. Tom lived with his son and daughter-in-law for the past 2 & ½ years in their home and enjoyed his grandchildren in his final years. He will be dearly missed. Besides his beloved wife, Mary, Tom is survived by his living sons and daughter-in-law; Thomas J. Davies, III of Bradenton, Florida and Richard M. and his wife Susan M. Jeanette Ann (Arena) Gill of Andover passed away Monday at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 71. Raised in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Marie (Dello Iacono) Arena. A graduate of Medford High School, Jeanette was a devoted wife and mother. She and her husband Bob began their family in Medford, but eventually settled in Andover, where they have lived for the past 30 years. Jeanette worked with her husband and managed their civil engineering firm, Robert M. Gill and Assoc. The beloved wife of Robert M. Gill, she was a devoted mother to Darlene Le Resche and her husband Philip of Phoenix, AZ, Joanne Golden and her husband Tom of Salem, NH, Kimberly Arnold and her wife Jaqueline Mahoney of Atlanta, GA, Laurie Gill of Allen, TX, and Maureen Looney of Billerica. Beulah “Bea” Ruth (Hutchins) Emery of North Andover, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6th, 2015 at Ashland Farms in North Andover. Mrs. Emery was the wife of Carleton “CARL” Emery of North Andover, MA. They celebrated their 65 years of Marriage on July 9th (from 1949) and had a 50th Golden Anniversary celebration with Family in 1999 at the Heritage Inn, Southbury, CT. Mrs. Emery was born in Lake Worth, Florida, and lived a busy life-time in four of the New England States. She was the daughter of the late Fred W. and Olive (Tilton) Hutchins. Beulah was a graduate of The Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston, MA. She was a secretarial assistant to Dean J. L. Mesick, of Simmons College, a woman’s professional school on the Fenway, Boston. After marriage and before moving to Connecticut, Mrs. Emery was a public relations assistant for a publishing company in Boston and she also did secretarial-assistant work for several businesses in the Greater Bridgeport-Fairfield areas of CT. Bea Emery was a very active volunteer Church Worker where ever she lived. Her greatest JOY was always in helping other people to be happy. She was forever grateful for her many wonderfully kind and thoughtful friends during a very busy lifetime. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Emery is survived by his son, Douglas M. Marguerite “Peggy” (Ringland) Burke passed away at Wingate of Andover in Andover, MA on March 5, 2015. She was 103. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Patrick F. Burke Sr. in 1975. Marguerite was born in Lawrence, MA on February 1, 1912, the daughter of James and Mary Frances (Callahan) Ringland. She attended St. Patrick’s Elementary and Lawrence High School. She worked at the Arlington Mill in Lawrence. During World War II, she worked on the wool used for uniforms and was a highly skilled and regarded mender. During the 1940-50s, she and her husband Pat owned Burke’s Tavern, where the local power players met for a pint. “Peg and Pat” was a glamorous couple, very involved in the political, social and sporting life of the Greater Lawrence area. They danced many nights away at political and Irish galas. Pat’s gift of humor and Shanakee (Irish Storytelling) talents made them the center of attention at many gatherings. “Party Peg,” as she was lovingly referred to, was a “hands on” hardworking, integral part of the lives of her family and friends. She was at the core, the best daughter, mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who taught us all how to live joyfully. Her enthusiasm knew no bounds and she especially loved parties, dancing, laughter, all sports, games, Bingo, her “divan” and visiting every Irish Pub on both sides of the Atlantic. With her group of friends known affectionately as “the Mauraders” there is no doubt there are many card games and Hooley’s (Irish Celebrations) going on in Heaven. Until her passing, Mum continued to make life-long “best friends.” During her recent hospitalizations in Rooms 501 and 513 at the Lawrence General Hospital, the nurses and staff there treated her like family. Thank you all. We also want to share her appreciation and the deep emotion we feel, for all the fun, love, care and friendship Mum enjoyed with the nurses, staff and residents at Wingate Andover, these last two years. The family will miss our visits to Room 210 and the shared hours of fun and frolic in the lounge. We treasure the memories of the happy times at Mum’s Wingate “home.” You made her last years wonderful. We love you! John F. Comeau Retired Area Builder VERO BEACH, FL: John F. Comeau, age 90, of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of Andover, passed away at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach, FL on Saturday, April 11, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Brower) Comeau and the late Gloria (Parsons) Comeau. Born in Malden on December 11, 1924, he was the son of the late J. Freeman Comeau and the late Rosalie (Saulnier) Comeau. John was raised in Malden, and attended Beebe High School in Malden. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during World War II with the 62nd Traffic Battalion. He was awarded several decorations for his military service including the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with a Bronze Service Arrowhead, and the Croix de Guerre with Palm. In addition, John participated in the 2nd Wave at Omaha Beach on D-Day. In 1951, he entered the home building business. During his career, John built and developed numerous homes and apartment complexes in North Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. During his retirement, he enjoyed life in the warm Florida weather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Mark Comeau of Grafton; six grandchildren, Janice Snyder and her husband Shane, John F. Comeau, III and his wife Barbara, Katie, Lindsay, Jillian, and Rachel Comeau; three great grandchildren, Alison, Isabella and Parker; his daughter-in-law, Patricia “Patty” (Donovan) Comeau of Methuen; also many nieces and nephews. John was the father of the late John F. “Jack” Comeau, Jr. and was also pre-deceased by three brothers and two sisters. Irene was born in Newport, Rhode Island on August 17, 1920—one of seven children born to Anita (Maggioli) Bosia and Joseph A. Bosia. At a young age, she moved with her family to East Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated from Girl’s High School in Boston. Later, her family moved to Somerville, Massachusetts. In September of 1945, she married Michael F. Paicopolos of Woburn. They lived in Somerville and were married for 67 years, until Michael’s death in 2012. For five years, Irene worked in the Accounting Department of the Jerguson Gage & Valve Company in Somerville. For many years, she was also active in the Grimmons School Parent-Teachers Association in Somerville. She leaves behind her son Ernest, daughter-in-law Gail Bloom and her grandson Adam Bloom-Paicopolos, all of Andover. She is survived by her sister Claire (Bosia) Barkosky of Malden, and two brothers—Edmund Bosia of Florida and Joseph Bosia of Tewksbury. She was preceded in death by three brothers—Robert Bosia, Ernest Bosia and Joseph Bosia, Jr.. She also leaves behind many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Maureen E. Calkins 47, of Dover and formerly of Natick died Thursday May 7 2015 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. She was the wife of Gary W. Leshinski sharing 20 years of marriage. Her two children, Nick and Olivia Leshinski were precious and deeply loved by her. She was born in 1967, the daughter of Janice F. Calkins (Fleming) and the late Peter J. Calkins. Maureen earned her undergraduate degree from Brandies University in 1989 and her law degree from Suffolk Law School in 1994. Ms. Calkins was a Real Estate Attorney operating her own practice in Dedham since 2004. Maureen attended the Natick School system and was a graduate of Natick High School class of 1985. Maureen is also survived by two brothers Burt Calkins of CO, Mark Calkins of Framingham, her father and mother in law James and Marilou Leshinski of Natick and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Maureen used her skills, education and abundance of compassion to make this world a better place to live in. She was a crusader for many of the passions that she held dear, many of which revolved around the beauty of nature and its animals. Her favorite charity was the Animal Rescue League. She felt each dog, cat, rabbit, etc. deserved a happy home. In liew of flowers she would like donations to be made to the Animal Rescue League. In his spare time, Mr. Ball enjoyed building cars, wood working and going fishing at his lake house in New Hampshire, especially with his loving grandchildren. Bertha “Toddy” (Stone) Marcoux, 93, of Andover, died on June 4, 2015 after a brief illness. She was born in Lawrence, MA, one of eight children of Peter and Bertha (Cote’) Stone. She was always known as Toddy since early childhood. Toddy was educated at St. Patrick’s Grammar School and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1940. She worked at Western Electric (later AT&T and Lucent Technologies) for twenyy-nine years. Toddy was a member of the Communication Workers of America (CWA) and after retiring, for many years, she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a volunteer network that built beeping “Audio Balls” for blind athletes. Toddy was active with Fidelity House Social Club and Bowling Club for special needs adults. She was also involved with line dancing at the the Andover Senior Center for many years. In her later years, she enjoyed her weekly visits at Andover Senior Center. Toddy enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, Red Sox baseball, traveling, shopping, visiting the beach and visiting her family in Texas. She especially enjoyed her family. She lived in Andover since 1966 and had belonged to St. Robert’s Bellarmine Church. Toddy was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Marcoux, and eldest son Donald Marcoux. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Marcoux, and his girlfriend, Donna Misko, her daughter, Nancy (Marcoux) and her husband, Robert Nunnery; grandchildren Jeffrey Marcoux and his wife Stefanie (Middleton), Allison (Marcoux) and her husband, Jonathan MacMartin, LeeAnn Nunnery and Lance Nunnery; great grandchildren Juliet Marcoux, Maeve MacMartin and Elle MacMartin; two sisters-in-law, Claire Stone and Peggy Stone as well as several nieces and nephews. He came to the United States with his family in 1969, living in Somerville before settling in Medford in 1980. He worked as a construction foreman for many years with Barr and Barr Construction and was a member of Local 22. He enjoyed gardening in his spare time. He was a sports fan and enjoyed following baseball and hockey. Most of all he looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren, whom he loved with all his heart. The beloved husband of Lucia (Sandonato) DiMeo, he was a devoted father to Antonietta Zavaras and her husband Peter of Lynnfield, Ralph DiMeo and his wife Gina of Andover. Mr. George A. Blaine, of Exeter, New Hampshire, formerly a longtime resident of Andover Ma. and beloved husband of the late Joan E. (Krohn) passed away at the Lawrence General Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, August 11, 2015. He was 85 years old. Born in Lawrence on February 16, 1930, he was the beloved son of the late Frederick and Caroline (Wilson) Blaine. George was a Korean Navy Veteran, serving twice and receiving two honorable discharges. While in the military, Mr. Blaine served aboard the USS Caloosahatchee and attained the rank of Petty Officer, 1st class. In civilian life, Mr. Blaine was a Mechanical Engineer and was also a self employed contractor in Andover and the surrounding communities. George was also a professionally trained singer and entertainer. He performed at many benefit shows for the elderly and the mentally challenged. He will be dearly missed. Jean Lopez, 83, originally of Haverhill, passed away at Academy Manor Nursing Home in Andover on Friday August 28th. She was born in Haverhill daughter of the late Blanche (Najuch) and Anthony Woidyla. She was raised and educated in Haverhill and later worked at Auclair Auto Body as a bookkeeper for over 20 years. In her free time Jean enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, any type of crafts including knitting and crocheting, but most recently took a liking to playing bingo. Jean is survived by her children Debra Lambert of Shalotte NC, Roberta Marand of Plaistow NH, Brenda Florin and her husband Paul of Manchester NH, Randall Auclair and his wife Debra of Haverhill MA, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, a brother Anthony Woidyla of Foster RI, and several nieces. Jean is predeceased by her first husband Joseph Robert Auclair, her second husband James Lopez, and a brother Walter Woidyla. NATICK: Karen (Clapp) Hegarty, age 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, September 13, 2015, at her Natick home. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Paul E. Hegarty; her daughter, Kim Hegarty Waters and husband Jack; and her grandson, Kyle Hegarty, all of Natick; two sisters, Deborah Clapp of NY, NY, Meredith Clapp of Amherst, and Timothy Clapp and his wife Jean of Dover; and many loving relatives and friends. Karen Clapp was born to Kenneth and Barbara (Carens) Clapp in Coronado, CA, where her father was stationed as a naval officer during World War II. After the war they returned to the Boston area. Karen graduated from Wellesley High School in 1963 and Lasell College in 1965. She met the love of her life, Paul E. Hegarty, in 1962 when they were working together at Brigham’s in Wellesley Hills. They were married in 1968. They honeymooned in Maui, and continued their life long love affair entertaining a vast variety of dear friends and family. Karen and Paul were known for their gracious hospitality and wicked senses of humor. Their door was always open and all were welcome. Karen loved working with people and enjoyed careers first at United Airlines and, after taking time off to raise her daughter Kim, at State Street Global Advisors. She made many friends and helped many colleagues over the years. She stayed in close touch with people that she had worked with more than 50 years ago. Karen had a huge capacity for life, love and friendship, and she touched so many lives with her unique combination of wit, sincerity and generosity of spirit. Her strength of character and fierce loyalty and devotion will be remembered by everyone. All of her friends and family are better people for knowing her. Her funeral will be from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common on Saturday, Sept. 19th at 10:00AM with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, at 11:00AM. Mr. Anastasios Konstantinos Kalogianis, a resident of Nahant, passed away at his home on Saturday afternoon, November 14, 2015, with his loving daughter JoAnn, and her husband by his side. He was 77 years old. Born in Alonnisos, Greece on April 24, 1938, he was the beloved son of the late Konstantinos and Cinioro (Panagiotou) Kalogianis. Anastasios served in the Greek Navy and immigrated to the United States in 1964. He is a 40 year Master Mason raised to the Sublime Degree at the William North Lodge. Mr. Kalogianis was a very successful builder and developer and was the proprietor of the well known company Olympic Construction Inc., a company that developed tracts of land, roadways and built homes. He was a tireless, hard working businessman for many years and in his limited spare time, Mr. Kalogianis enjoyed his cigars, long distance ocean swimming, travel and scuba diving. Above and beyond all, he was a devoted father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed. Anastasios is loving survived by his daughter JoAnn Kalogianis Spaneas and her husband Demetrius Spaneas and grandchildren Theo, Anastasia and Dean Nikolopoulos all of Nahant; and by daughters Donna and her husband Brian Gerace of Attleboro and Tammy and her husband George Tasiopoulos of Andover and grandchildren Despina and Marianna Tasiopoulos and many nieces and nephews in the United States, Canada and Greece. He was also the former husband of the late Mary Ann (Goulakos) Kalogianis and the devoted brother of the late Apostolos, John and Nick Kalogianis. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 62 Lewis Street, Lowell on Friday, November 20, 2015, at 1 o’clock. Margaret E. Torla, 98, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2016 at her home with her family by her side. Born in North Andover she was the youngest of 7 children of James and Jane Haphey. She attended North Andover public schools. During the depression she was proud to secure a job in the Lawrence mills as a duffer. When her brother opened the Blue Fox Restaurant after World War II, she joined the family business as a waitress. She continued to work at the Fox and many have fond memories of conversations with her at the bar. She was most proud of being an accomplished mixologist. Margaret supported each of the schools that her children attended and celebrated every graduation. For many years she volunteered in the North Andover Town Clerk’s office and was president of St. Michael,s guild for two years. She leaves behind her son Robert and his wife Ann Sibold of Falls Church, Virginia, daughter Cathy Dawson of North Andover and daughter-in-law Charlene Torla of Lowell, grandchildren Michael Torla of Chandler AZ, Jason of Seattle, Elizabeth and Margaret of Falls Church, Virginia, Tricia Dawson of New York City and Mathew Dawson of Salem MA, John E. Torla of Lowell, Suzanne Hall of Dracut, Cindy Torla Murphy of Danville, NH and Jill Torla of Lowell, nieces and nephews and 6 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband John J. Susan E. (Blake) Grieco, a resident of Andover, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2016. She was 52 years old. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, on October 15, 1963, she was the beloved daughter of Barbara J. (Berry) Blake-Stahler and the late Richard E. Blake. Susan was a graduate of the University of Texas. Above all, she was the most devoted mother to her three daughters whom she cherished with her heart and soul. She will be dearly missed. Susan is survived by her loving daughters; Aundrea L. Teresa M. (Geis) McCabe 88 died peacefully at her home in Kingston N.H. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. McCabe Jr. Born in Queens N.Y. she met the love of her life during WW2 and were married 49 years until his passing. She spent her summers camping at the Salisbury reservation where she loved the beach. Teresa was a talented knitter and loved her flower garden as well as watching old black and white movies. She is pre-deceased by her son Gregg T. McCabe. She is survived by her sister Betty Daly of Methuen, her daughter Kathleen McCabe of Dracut, her son Glenn McCabe and his wife Lora of Derry N.H., her daughter Colleen Richard and her husband Donald of Kingston N.H. and her daughter Maureen Consentino and her fiancé Sean of Kingston N.H. her 8 grandchildren, Shawn, Heather, Meaghan, Erik, Daniel, James, Cameron and Aidan and was so proud of her two great grandchildren Logan and Landon.
